This years’ theme Innovation in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine explores where the next chapters of diving and hyperbaric medicine are taking the world. From challenging human boundaries, new mixed gases, novel equipment, and conquering the unknown to enhancing knowledge and safety in the field, the 2027 SPUMS ASM is shaping up to provide a robust scientific program. The Scientific Convenor welcomes interest from delegates to present on all innovative concepts/theories/approaches/applications to the diving and hyperbaric world.

The workshop on formulating the Joint Position Statements for Mental Health and Neurodevelopmental factors relevant to recreational fitness to dive assessment is open to SPUMS members and will occur on the Thursday afternoon 20th May 2027. International delegates representing their societies and organisations will also be present for the collaborative recommendations to help guide the diving physician with assessment of the prospective diver with a history of mental health/neurodivergence.

Potential presenters are welcome to complete an ‘Abstract form’ (download the Abstract Form here) and please contact the Scientific Convenor should you have any questions or ideas at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. In anticipation of a busy schedule for the ASM, there will also be opportunity for presentations to be provided in poster format. This can be indicated on the ‘Abstract Form’. The poster format will include formulation of a poster and the opportunity to discuss the poster during the coffee break on one of the ASM days.

I look forward to meeting you and catching up at the 2027 SPUMS ASM in Dumaguete, Philippines.

Sincerely,

Dr Lizzie Elliott
Scientific Convenor
